Which program would you like to see used in the community
Consolidated Voice comms
OK you all we need to decide on ONE type of communications. I dont care WHAT it is but PICK ONE PLEASE lmao. I know MDog has jumped through hoops to have conversations with 2 different people just because of the voice comms issues of people. So lets make it official. Lets pick a community chat/voice communications program.

Re: Consolidated Voice comms
Tunngle? - for VOICE COMM, SKYPE should in the list
One defining factor needs to be team grouping during mission play - as much as I like the others as well - TS is more a standard

Re: Consolidated Voice comms
I would opt personally for either TeamSpeak or Skype. There are 2 main reasons :
1) in both you can group people in rooms or conference rooms
2) in both you can transfer mission files.
Plus in both of them you dont have so many annoying adds and commercials and they maintain rather high audio quality.
Theres some small edge for TeamSpeak for being slightly lighter for RAM than Skype ( i have only laptop, so anything taking extra RAM is not so much welcome by me ).

Re: Consolidated Voice comms
Reason I didn't include Skype is the fact you gotta pay for it to get all of the benefits. Also I don't see a need for it. It was designed for video chatting and it does that kinda half assed at best. But also I am totally against anything hands free as well. Nothing worse than hearing someones conversation with their spouse, kid or the dog barking in the background kicking on their mics. Ill mute you before listening to that lol.

Re: Consolidated Voice comms
I hope you do realise Skype works without all the benefits?? Those extra benefits are mostly paying for haveing luxury of calling someones phone (mobile/homephone) from a computer (not needed indeed, but not obligatory at all on the other hand).
About hearing background, most of those applications have calibration options, and if you decide to be pollite you can always ask person who is making (unintentionally) white noise (or whatever colore it is ), to mute himself or atleast manage that noise.
Cheers

Re: Consolidated Voice comms
Again I am not gonna draw you pictures to show you what everything else offers compared to the limited offerings of 1 program. the main reason I don't use it is everywhere I read they state Skype is a memory drain. Starting at 105 megs at start and dipping into the gigabyte range in some instances. Teamspeak 3 is a whopping 38 megs consistently. Not only is that bad now I know why all of a sudden you guys start dropping like flies during rounds at times. If you are running skype on the side it would make alotta sense.

Re: Consolidated Voice comms
I've heard that about skype too. I even suggested to TJ once about it, but we weren't consistent with using TS as a subsitute. I think the phrase, "better the devil you know" comes to mind with that scenario.
I'm all for using TS as a primary comm network for us. I do need skype otherwise though because I have family that live abroad that use it too. So if I'm gaming and in TS I'll have both on to be able to catch someone I know. For gaming however I'd ride with TS.
And where's the voting buttons??
