Hi guys you are my only hope to solve an anomaly, otherwise it means shelving my game till I next upgrade my GPU. I noticed a Blue/purple/white tinge to
the colour of the sea near any shoreline of the game I approach. Its now started to bug me like hell. I then
decided to test something, I took an helicopter way out to sea. The
Blue/purple/whitecolour is NOT part of the shore it actually follows a
huge radius around me, the colour anomaly seems to follow me but its
only visable when I go near water, that is why I assumed it followed the
entire shore when in fact it doesn't its around me. Its quite big too.
As I approach the shore you can see it in sea, then when I retreat to
land it disappears. I am using an HD 7970. Is it AMD related or a glitch
that is there with everyone?

This is annoying now I have seen this.

Thanks.

edit.
Seen some Youtube videos of people playing the game with older AMD
cards and the water around them is fine. Damn whats causing this Sad

Hi,

I have a bit similar problem, but not with water, rather with trees which at certain distance flicker on the edges with kinda "starlets". Closer i get to them it disappear. My personal guess on that is Anisotropic level setting being on too low. Other guess is you would need some old display driver to check with. Battlefield 2 for sure runs the best on old drivers but it's older game itself.
Also DR doesn't support multiple graphic cards, so you could also disable second card (IF you've got multiple).
The last thing is, if you happen to have Catalyst Control Centre try to match settings for gaming in there WITH those from Dragon Rising "Video Options" segment.

Cheers,

Hi Jurek
I have had your problem before, is it white dots flickering on trees? If it is then its the anti aliasing. You need to disable it and use fxaa or supersampling AA which removes it. If you have an AMD card you can use the latest RadeonPro to enable fxaa. I use supersampling though from the CCC.

With my problem I only use one card and I have tried every graphical option that I can think of. The ones in the game and the ones in the CCC. I haven't tried old drivers but I don't want to be swapping drivers daily to play different games. Anyone with an HD 7970 here to see if the sea give you the same colour issues?
If it is my card that is too new then I don't know how to solve it
Thanks.

Can you guys see it? That rainbow of **** is visible whenever I go near water. It is a huge ring around me. If I back off it backs off with me.
It isn't visible inland but if I fly a helo out to sea its like a huge anomoly in the sea like a ring of colours around me. It is really ruining my game.
Its like I'm walking about with a 200 meter force field around me.

Im running

Windows 8 (I saw it on windows 7 too)
i7 3770k
HD 7970 latest drivers 3.1 (also tried 3.2 beta)
8gb ram
Vertex 4 SSD

I have 90 games installed that all run superb without any anomolies.
I am at the mercy of this group for help Sad

I had a graphics problem myself with this game after building my new PC.It was OK in XP but not in WIN7.It was ok with the antialiasing switched off but was a mess with it turned on.As well as the graphics prob I kept falling through the ground and if I was driving it would fall into the ground then get flung into the air.
It turned out to have been caused because I hadn't installed an ATI Catalyst driver (didn't think I needed it with having a Nvidia graphics card but things have obviously changed since AMD bought ATI and I have an AMD FX cpu).
Anyway all I can suggest is to turn off all antialiasing and anisotropic filtering and see if it still happens. Also I know this is a bit obvious but make sure your pc is set to 32bit true colour.

Hi
Thanks for your advice, tried them all but to no avail. I have spent 24 hours trying everything in my 15 years experience to fix this issue but to no luck. This forum is my last hope. My machine runs every game I own beautifully and this is the only game on my list of nearly 200 games on steam with a problem. I just don't understand why. It runs flawless and as smooth as butter but I don't know whats wrong with the water. Maybe it just doesn't run on the HD 7970.
Just as I was getting into the "This is War" mod Sad
I can't get round the issue I don't want to say bye to this title but removing my £400 card isn't an option. I emailed AMD support but not holding my breath with a fix.
Just wondering if anyone here has seen my issue before.

Edit. Tried something new. I completely disabled my GPU and ran the game using the 3770k onboads graphics. It was a rather stuttery affair in game but the water was perfect.
So that def narrows it to the 7970 series.

This is usually caused by anistropic filtering or bilinear filtering settings.

First start off by making sure your graphics card driver is not forcing a particular type of Anistropic Filtering method globally or to OFDR in particular.

Jump into OFDR and go into the graphics settings. start with bilinear filtering and move up the scale to see if you get any changes to this issue (or hopefully it will go away)

Hi Templar
Thanks for the advice. I always have Anistropic Filtering set by the application. I tried the in game filtering from Bilinear to Anistropic 2-8 and no change. Why doesn't this show up on land? and is there any other settings I can make to the sea to remove it?

Thanks for all your help.

Thinking about this some more, it seems that it is to do specifically with transparancy.

Check your video card settings and look at anti-alaising transperancy and play with those settings.

try forcing AA off with your graphics driver too

Thanks Templar, tried everything with the AA I can think off. I can only get it to run without the artifacts with my board GPU.
I've reported it to AMD and sent a full description. They are looking into it and trying to replicate the issue then fix it in the new 13.3 catalyst drivers or future ones. Because I haven't seen anyone with a HD 7970 (on youtube etc) who plays this game I cannot find the same problem replicated.
